FLAWLESS SKIN ROUTINE

Meagan Rawlings

I touched on the importance of a perfect base in my ‘Signature Look’ Blog last week, so I thought I would go into more detail about how to do it. I also ended up writing a second blog post this week called 'The Skin Edit' about skin care and how to assess your skin type properly, it will definitely help you to understand your skin so you can get the best out of this look.

1. First of all make sure you have clean and moisturised skin.

2. Use a primer that aligns with the final result you are wanting to achieve e.g. a mattifying primer = Matte finish. Use enough primer to cover your entire face (not your eyelids though) in a thin layer, just use your hands to do this. I am using Laura Mercier Radiance Primer for a glowy finish.

3. Apply your foundation. I usually squeeze a pump onto the back of my hand and from there dot my forehead, cheeks, chin and nose then use my XO Beauty Flat Top Foundation Brush to buff it out in little circles (use a good amount of pressure) all over my face. Then whatever is left on my hand or I get another pump, I dot where I want more coverage which is normally my cheeks and chin, then blend it out again with the brush.

4. Conceal around the eyes. So the eye area is a tad tricky because it can be a lot lighter in colour than your face but then there is also that darkness in the corner which has a blue/green undertone. The ideal colour to neutralise that bluey tinge is pink, or if your more olive skinned, peach. I use the Bobbi Brown corrector in Bisque because it is super creamy and doesn’t go dry and flakey. Check out the photos below to get a better idea of where to place your corrector or concealer. Basically you just want to place it onto the dark corner on the side of your nose and in the trough/ dip that goes from the corner and slightly under the eye. Put enough on so that it is opaque and you can’t see any darkness through it, then blend out with your ring finger by tapping over it all until it becomes blended with the skin.

5. Put a thin veil of concealer all over the eyelid from lash line to brow.

6. Set everything with a sheer powder such as Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. Using a fluffy powder brush dust a light layer over everything including under the eye and over the eyelid.

7. Now your skin is even and flawless but it's all one colour, so this is where I like to add in some details. Use a bronzer to softly contour your cheek bones, put some blush on the apples of the cheek, groom your brows, add some mascara and a lipgloss to finish off.

Flawless Skin Routine is complete!
